Festive Outfits To Indulge in this Season

The festive season is upon us and shopping is inevitable. With the temperatures soaring up in the northern parts of India, wearing comfortable clothes is a requirements especially during the day. In parts of the south, monsoon season is yet to vanish, which means comfortable summer clothing is a favourite there too. Outfits is linen and cotton fabrics with minimal embellishments and embroidery are festival appropriate and weather friendly too. It is essential to choose flowy garments and breatheable fabrics for this weather. This year you can opt for a combination of kurtis and palazzos which are apt for this season as well as come in all summer colours and prints. From florals to ditsy prints, from sherbet lemon to serenity blue, the combination of kurtis and palazzos are a must have in your wardrobe.

1. Florals for Summer – Groundbreaking!

Floral prints are always trending throughout the year and everybody owns at least 2 outfits in their closet with this print. This year you should own a kurti and pallazo set adorned with the floral motif in bright hues. What better way to celebrate 2017! Within the floral theme, go for ditsy patterns and pastel shades of yellows and pinks.

2. Indigo Dyed
One of the older dyes to be used on garments, this colour has been part of the runway for quite a while now. The blue white dyed kurtis have also been part of the trend; pair those with solid white palazzos or compliment it with blue palazzos in the ombre effect. Be a part of this craft which has been carried on for generation in India.

3. Variation in the Kurti Style
Start this year fresh with a variation of your regular kurtis. Opt for a shorter length kurti which you wore with patialas all this while, or try wearing a high-low hem style kurta with palazzo pants this season. Kurtis in the past came with slits on both sides, the 21st century trend focusses on long kurtis with front slits, which look great with printed palazzos. Take it a notch higher by wearing a minimal zari embroidered kurta palazzo set for an Indian function this summer.

4. Styles in Palazzo Pants
When you’ve exhausted all your kurti options to pair with your palazzos, grab some new styles of palazzos and pair them with your kutis. There is a range of palazzo pants that you can chose from. 2017 is the year for micro pleated and crinkled lowers, which you can now wear over kurtis for summer. You can also try side slit palazzos or the trending  tulip hem palazzo pants with your assortment of kurtis. If you’re tired of the length of your pants, shorten the hem and style your everlasting kurtis with culottes.

5. Summer Fabrics
Spring Summer is a time for not only wearing light colours but also lightweight fabrics. Why not carry that tradition on as the festive begins too. Opt for material which lets your skin breathe, at the same time not exposing too much skin to the harsh sunlight. Designers all over the country have showcased plenty of kurtis and palazzos in simpler fabrics such as cotton and linen. When the summer sun sets in, khadi kurtis will be useful, which do not stick to your skin.

There are plenty of combinations you can opt for while pairing your kurtis with palazzos. The festive 2017 trend focuses on lighter hues and even lighter fabrics in flowy fabrics. Try combinations with different fabrics, print on print or solid on print to give your look an edge this year. Pair each outfit a statement clutch and comfortable heels for the celebration times.

Types of sleeves you should invest in for the next 2 years

2017 has been the year of sleeves as evidently seen on the Fashion Week runways for the past year. This time the focus is completely on the style of the sleeves rather than the rest of the outfit. From oversized, larger than life, exaggerated sleeve styles to ruffles and frills inspired layering on those sleeves, this spring summer you should invest in these sleeves to be on top of the street style chart this year.

1) Bell Sleeves

This statement has been garnering a lot of eyeballs and for good reason. They flare out from the elbow onwards and the more flared out your sleeve is, the bigger statement you make. These should be paired with slim fitting pencil skirts or high waist shorts. Dramatic sleeves on a mini dress look gorgeous on taller women, with legs worth showing off.

2) Bishop Sleeves

After its first appearance in the 6th century, these sleeves gained momentum again during the 60’s. These are fuller at the bottom and gather into a cuff at the wrist, which bring a feminine touch to your entire outfit. These sleeves look great in chiffon and georgette fabrics as the balloon effect stays true to the silhouette. Just like the bell sleeves, bishop sleeves can be part of bohemian style dresses and jumpsuits. Alternatively, bishop styles shirts and tops can be paired with well tailored lowers. Structured handbags go well with the entire look.

3)     Flounce Sleeves

2016 streetstyle has taken this trend to new heights with the introduction to bell sleeves in a modern version. A separate piece circular of fabric is attached to the sleeves to give it a flouncy effect. Some dresses with larger flounce attached at the elbows are your party essentials which makes you standout in the crowd. Tops and dresses with little flared out sleeves at the cuffs can be paired with everything from slim fit denims to loose-fit pants.

4)     Extra Long Sleeves

Art is absurd and fashion falls true in that regard. The trend for extra long sleeves has become a hit on the red carpet with celebrities donning gowns that have extremely long sleeves, sometimes extending to the floor. From sweater dresses to crop tops, the extra long sleeves trend is one that street style bloggers have already tried out during the fashion weeks and with summer 2017 on its way, this one should be part of our wardrobe too.  One of the easiest ways to try it out is to used an oversized shirt and knot it at the front.

5)     Off Shoulder and Cold Shoulder

These two skin baring trends have been going strong all over the world for a solid two years now. With the rise in bardot tops in regular stores as well as flea markets, the next big step is to make that a statement. An off shoulder style with ruffles along the sleeve is a drama meets edgy look and if paired with boyfriend denims and strappy heels, it balances out the whole look.

Sleeves which grab your attention at the first look, is what it is about in 2017. This summer, invest in a variety of such impractical but stylish outfits, from tops to dress and pair them together for a chic street style look. Experiment with your looks but keep it comfortable because that is what fashion trends are all about.
